The fight against COViD has already cost us PLN 3 million

The shortest summary of the pandemic by the city is several dozen activities in various areas for the benefit of residents and their safety, and nearly PLN 3 million in the red. This has been the cost of the fight against the coronavirus in Dzierżoniów for 3 months.

Since the very beginning of the announcement of the epidemic in Dzierżoniów, measures for the safety of the inhabitants have been initiated. A special emergency telephone number was activated, which could be called in any matter. Psychologists from the Crisis Intervention Center and the Society of Friends of Children in Dzierżoniów were also on duty. Employees of the City Hall and the Senior Plus Day Home, as part of the "Telephone to a senior" campaign, contacted the oldest inhabitants of the town, members of veterans' and senior organizations, to check their well-being and offer help. On-line meetings were conducted for the willing seniors. Employees of the OPS and city guards helped with rescriptions and shopping for seniors and people in isolation. Once a week, the public space was disinfected, and employees of the institutions that had been closed due to the pandemic, such as senior homes, schools and kindergartens, sewed reusable masks, which were handed out by city guards during patrols

The city organized a fundraiser among companies and individuals, creating the Fund for Combating Coronavirus. The sum of over PLN 30,000, to which the city contributed, was collected. A fogger (equipment for disinfecting rooms) was purchased for the hospital in Dzierżoniów. The city councilors also decided to transfer PLN 150,000 to the hospital for the purchase of an ambulance.

Dzierżoniów was the first town in the region to decide to purchase COViD-19 quick tests. This enabled to test, among others, firefighters or OPS employees.

The Dzierżoniów Town Hall and the OPS were constantly active - although with restrictions - and the town councilors also kept working - both during the committee meetings and on-line sessions. Special local allowances were also adopted for entrepreneurs who were most affected by the epidemic.

To date, Dzierżoniów has spent over PLN 360,000 on personal protective equipment, disinfectants, tests and other costs related to fighting the pandemic, such as the costs of stationing WOT soldiers. In addition, the fight against the coronavirus means much lower budget revenues from taxes due for the city. Only in March and April, the official cash desk did not receive over 2 million 635 thousand. due to PIT and CIT.
